Obituary: Walter L. ‘Buck’ Durbin, 88, Bardstown

WALTER L. “BUCK” DURBIN

Walter L. “Buck” Durbin, 88, of Bardstown, died Friday, March 21, 2014, at his home. He was born August 5, 1925, in Bardstown. He retired from Heaven Hill Distillery and was also a farmer. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 121.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Durbin; one daughter, Connie Durbin; one son, Michael Durbin; one sister, Evelyn Pryor; six brothers, Roy Durbin, Raymond Durbin, Curtis Durbin, Everett Durbin, Howard “Shine” Durbin, Jr. and Wallace “Sam” Durbin; and one grandson, Jeremy Grubbs.

He is survived by two daughters, Arlene (Leon) Harrell and Lisa (David) Barnes, both of Barddstown; three sons, Ronnie (Edna Louise) Durbin, Randall Durbin and Terry (Denise) Durbin, all of Bardstown; one sister, Dorothy Durbin of Bardstown; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. Richie Curtis will officiate.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2014 and 9-11 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to Kosair Children’s Hospital and Veterans Memorial Fund.

Barlow Funeral Home in Bardstown is in charge of arrangements.
