Four fire departments respond to Boston Community Center blaze
Sunday, March 23, 2014, 2:30 a.m. — The Boston Community Center was heavily damaged by a fire reported by a passerby at 11:43 Saturday night. A responding Boston firefighter reported flames were through the roof of the structure and it was largely engulfed in flames.
The Boston Fire Department requested additional manpower and water tanker trucks from the Bardstown, Lebanon Junction and Rolling Fork fire departments. Firefighters from the four department fought the fire and worked to keep it from affecting a nearby home. By 2 a.m., most of the other fire departments’ manpower and equipment were released.
The American Red Cross responded to assist the residents of the adjacent home. Nelson County EMS and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the fire scene.
At the time this update was posted, firefighters remain at the fire scene.
