Obituary: Kenny Sherwood Simpson, 64, Bloomfield
Kenny Sherwood Simpson, 64, of Bloomfield, died Sunday, March 23, 2014, at his home. He was born May 27, 1949, in Louisville. He was a farmer, a retired teacher at Nelson County High School where he was the former assistant and head basketball coach. He was also the former track and cross country coach at Nelson County High School, and was working as a reading intervention teacher at Spencer County High School. He was a member of Chaplin Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where he served as an elder and a Sunday school teacher.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Simpson.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Carrico Simpson; one daughter, Brooke (Arnie) Holder of Bowling Green; one son, Barry (Amanda) Simpson of Bardstown; his mother, Nancy Hood Simpson of Chaplin; two sisters, Carol (Terry) Bowling of Chaplin and Annette (Steve) Edwards of Bloomfield; one brother, Danny (Mary) Simpson of Chaplin; and two grandchildren; Kate and Megan Simpson.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Lee Cox officiating. Burial is in the Highview Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Chaplin Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.
The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
