The board decided to set the order alphabetically this year and alternate the order year-to-year.

With the number of school days missed already this year, the board also approved a transportation plan for school bus routes that serve areas of the county historically prone to flooding.

The plan identified eight bus routes that serve the Boston and New Haven areas and developed alternative routes that can serve homes with minimal disruption and delay. Four bus routes could be unserviceable, depending on the severity of the flooding, and could impact up to 180 students.

Affected students would be given excused tardies or excused absences in the event that transportation is delayed or found to be impossible, according to the plan.

The board also approved housing any students who may be stranded away from their homes due to flooding.
