Firefighters lose two members thanks to medical weight loss program
STAFF REPORT
Monday, March 31, 2014, 3:30 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department reported today the loss of what amounts to two firefighters. But don’t worry, the city’s fire protection isn’t at risk — in fact, the department’s ability to fight fires is probably improved.
But two firefighters — or more than 357 lbs — is the amount of weight firefighters have lost since Jan. 1 this year under the watchful eyes of Dr. Brian Sosnin and his staff at Bluegrass Community Family Practice.
Thirteen firefighters have participated in the program, which included medical, nutritional and physical fitness counseling services.
The program was originally set to end in April, but a fire department press release notes that the firefighters and Dr. Sosnin’s medical staff were so pleased with the results they have decided to continue the program.
