Local attractions fare well in magazine’s annual reader write-in contest

Monday, March 31, 2014, 4 p.m. — Several local attractions have been honored by the readers of Kentucky Living magazine and its “2014 Best in Kentucky” contest.
For the “2014 Best in Kentucky” reader write-in contest, the magazine’s readers voted on their favorite Kentucky attractions, getaways and vacation spots.
My Old Kentucky Home State Park was honored with two awards by the magazine readers. The park was honored in two categories, including a second-place award for best golf course (second to a tie for first place between Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville and General Burnside Island State Park course), and third-place award in the Iconic Kentucky Landmark category (first went to Churchill Downs followed by Abraham Lincoln’s Birthplace)
The Kentucky Bourbon Festival received a third-place finish in the Best Festival (Nonmusic) category (Lincoln Days and the Casey County Apple Festival were first and second place).
The Bardstown Civil War Museum earned a third-place finish in the “Best Museum” category, behind the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green and the Mill Spring Battlefield Museum in Nancy.
