Hurst enters race for judge-executive as an independent candidate

Tuesday, April 1, 2014, 4:15 p.m. — Bardstown businessman John R. “Jack” Hurst filed his statement of his intent to run for Nelson County judge-executive as an Independent.

Hurst, owner of The Shirt Shop, filed his statement in the office of Nelson County Clerk Elaine Filiatreau. Hurst must complete his filing by submitting a petition of nomination to the county clerk by 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014.

The filing sets up a four-way general election race for judge-executive, featuring incumbent Democrat Dean Watts, Republican Pete Trzop and Independents Tim Hutchins and Hurst.

Hurst had not returned a reporter’s phone calls as of 4:15 Tuesday afternoon.
