Obituary: Rae Laverne Phillips, 73, Bardstown

Rae Laverne Phillips, 73, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She was born December 3, 1940, in Nelson County. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church, a member of St. Monica Worship Committee, a graduate of University of funeral_lilyLouisville with a master’s degree in teaching. She retired after 45 years at St. Joseph Catholic School and served on the library board.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Firman and a son, Charles Terrance “Terry” Phillips.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Phillips of Bardstown; two daughters, Candy (David) Lewis of Bloomfield and Donna (Barry) Lewis of Bardstown; one son, Bobby (Alice) Phillips of Nicholasville; four sisters, Donna Faye (Sonny) Greathouse of Bardstown, Lillian (Barry) Smallwood of Lexington, Ann (John) Payne and Connie (Ronnie, Wiener) Ford, both of Bardstown; her mother, Naomi Furman; three sisters-in-law, Josephine Phillips and Renee (Ron) Turner, both of Bardstown and Barbara Edwards of Oakland, Calif.; three grandchildren, Terrence Lewis, Amber Lewis and Raeann Lewis; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at St. Monica Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. Tom Clark will officiate with the Rev. Bill Hammer and Deacon Scott Turner con-celebrating.

Visitation is 3–8 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2014, and 9–10:15 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service is 7 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Jeff Hopper.

Memorial contributions may go towards Masses.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
