Bardstown Fire called to Wal-Mart for potential haz-mat situation
STAFF REPORT
Thursday, April 3, 2014 — The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the rear of the Bardstown Wal-Mart just after 10 a.m. today for a possible hazardous materials incident.
Thursday morning, Wal-Mart employees discovered an unlabeled bucket whose bottom had expanded. Without a label there was no way to determine what was inside the bucket and if it posed a hazard.
The store’s managers were advised to contact their disposal company and have them remove the bucket for proper disposal. Fire department personnel stayed on scene until the company removed the bucket.
There was no threat to customers or employees inside the store at the time of the incident.
