STAFF REPORT

Friday, April 4, 2014, 11 a.m. — Bardstown native Dr. Sarah Ballard is doing Elizabethtown_Community_and_Technical_College_737791_i0her part to help college-age and non-traditional students find success at the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College’s Springfield campus.

Ballard has been the administrative coordinator for the Washington county campus, and is responsible for managing the campus and the programs it offers the community.

The Springfield campus opened in 2010 with 77 students, and has grown steadily to 220 students who come from Marion, Nelson and Washington counties.

The campus offers three associate degree programs as well as community college classes with credits that transfer to Kentucky’s public universities.

Having a community college nearby with affordable, quality education is an advantage to a community, and a boost to economic development, Ballard said.

Ballard is a graduate of Nelson County High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in history at Georgetown College and earned master’s and doctoral degrees in history at the University of Kentucky.

She joined ECTC’s Springfield campus as an admissions adviser in July 2011 and was named administrative coordinator in August 2013.
