JOSEPH GARY SMITH

Joseph Gary Smith, 62, of Springfield, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Norton Hospital in Louisville. He was born Oct. 27, 1951, in Lebanon. He was a real estate agent for several years and was a consultant with G. Smith Consulting and Courier. He was a member of River of Life Community Church in Springfield.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sylvia Mudd Smith on June 14, 1980.

He is survived by the love of his life, Peggy Browning Burke of Lebanon; two daughters, Natalie (Gabe) Stone and Meredith Smith, both of Bardstown; one son, Bryan (Laura) Smith of Lexington; his father, Jim Smith of Louisville;  seven sisters, Mary Carey (Pee Wee Nally) of Springfield, Barbara Ann (Tim) Thompson and Donna Jean (Jack) Reed, both of Louisville, Judy (Rick) Goodin of Lebanon, Kita (Phil) Steinmetz of Jeffersonville, Ind., Theresa (Randy) Lanning of Grand Rapids, Mich. and Lou (John) Jaworski of Ijamsville, Md.; three brothers, Steve (Wanda) Smith of Springfield, Bernie (Carie) Smith of Louisville and Tony (Lamar) Smith of Houston; one grandson, Deuce Stone; 41 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-neices and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the River of Life Community Church in Springfield with the Rev. Troy Shelton officiating. Burial is in St. Rose Cemetery.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014,and 8-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014. at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jerry and Terry Fowler, John Strickland, Wesley Smith, David Etheredge, Tommie Hurst, Lee Robinson, and Michael Carey.

Hale-Polin-Robinson Funeral Home, Springfield, is in charge of arrangements.
