April 10, 2014, 3 p.m. — The Stephen Foster Drama Association far surpassed its Kentucky Gives Day fundraising goal yesterday thanks to the generosity of 42 donors who submitted their contributions online.

The initial goal of $2,500 was met before 11 a.m. Wednesday, and a second goal of $5,000 was met by 5 o’clock. A last-minute $100 donation pushed the drama to a fifth-place finish among Kentucky Gives Day participants for a total of $6,246, which includes a $250 bonus for fifth-place.

“Kentucky Gives Day is such a unique way for people to get involved and show support for the non-profits that strengthen their communities,” said Johnny Warren, the drama’s managing artistic director.

The Stephen Foster Drama Association produces The Stephen Foster Story, the official outdoor musical of Kentucky. The summer season begins with The Stephen Foster Festival on June 14th.
