Bardstown, NE Nelson firefighters called to Lookout Court field fire

Thursday, April 10, 2014, 4 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Lookout Court off Marks Lane in the Woodlawn community just after noon today.

Firefighters arrived to find more the fire covering more than an acre of ground and threatening to spread to a heavily wooded area. Firefighters requested a brush truck and additional manpower from the Northeast Nelson Fire Department to help fight the blaze. Firefighters were hampered by the soft soil conditions which resulted in one firefighting apparatus getting stuck in the mud.

It took more than an hour to get the fire under control. Fire crews were at the scene until 1:45 p.m.
