Firefighters called after public works crew hits natural gas line

fireshieldMonday, April 14, 2014, 2:20 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called Monday morning to the intersection of North Salem and McGowan Avenue for a report of a natural gas leak.

Firefighters found a City of Bardstown public works crew at that location replacing a damaged stop sign. While replacing the sign they hit an underground natural gas line. LG&E was called to the scene to make repairs. Firefighters were called out at 11:34 a.m. and were at the scene for about 35 minutes.
