Teen driver injured in single-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Woodlawn Rd.

Tuesday, April 15, 2014, 3 p.m. – Jacob Carwile, 17, suffered serious injuries Tuesday morning when the 2001 Daewoo he was driving ran off Woodlawn Road and struck a tree. The accident happened in the 3100 block of Woodlawn Road at about 8:22 a.m.

According to police, the vehicle was traveling west on Woodlawn Road when the driver lost control on the slick roadway, ran off the road and struck a tree. The roof of the vehicle was crushed down onto the passenger compartment, trapping the driver in the vehicle. The Bardstown Fire Department used their rescue tools to cut the vehicle open to remove the injured driver. He was transported by Nelson County EMS to Flaget Memorial Hospital with  multiple injuries, including a broken arm, broken leg and facial and head injuries.

He was later transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital trauma center for evaluation and is stable but critical condition.
