Obituary: Catherine Cleveland, 97, of Bardstown

Catherine Cleveland, 97, of Bardstown, died Friday, April 18, 2014, at Windsor Gardens Nursing Center. She funeral_lilywas born Jan. 30, 1917, in Athertonville. She was a former owner of Cleveland Welding and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Cleveland; three sisters, Nettie Greenwell, Regina Hulse, and Josephine Shaw; and four brothers, Elder Sims, Ed Sims, Damian Sims Jr., and John “A” “Gus” Sims.

She is survived by one sister, Nancy Elliott of Hodgenville; one brother, Charles W. (Frances) Sims of Lexington; two sister-in-laws, Lila Sims, and Ann Sims, both of Bardstown; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Chris Rhodes was celebrant, and Rev. Troy Overton was concelebrant.

Visitation is 4–8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, and 9–10:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held Tuesday evening.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Joseph School.

The pallbearers were Mickey Head, David Murphy, Kurt Sims, Jerry Greenwell, Joe Lear, and J.D. Lear.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
