Obituary: Betty Lou Masterson, 70, of New Hope

BETTY LOU MASTERSON

Betty Lou Masterson, 70, of New Hope, died Monday, April 21, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. She was a native of New Hope and a life-long member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She retired from Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont after 43 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Boot Masterson; her parents, Jimmy T. and Louise Cecil Riggs; and her sister, Connie Cissell.

Survivors include one daughter, Kay Allgeier (Dennis) of Bardstown; one son, Ray Masterson of Bardstown; two grandsons, Jacob and Levi, both of Bardstown; seven sisters, Shirley Hutchins (Eddie), Pat Bartley (Doc), Ginger Ayers(Don)and Sara Riggs all of New Hope, Lois O’Bryan (Jerry) of New Haven, Marinel Clark (Junie) of Cox’s Creek and Sr. Margaret Rae Riggs, SCN of Nazareth; and three brothers, Jim Riggs (Edith) of Louisville, Jackie Riggs (Mary Ann) of Bardstown and Dickie Riggs of Cox’s Creek.

A Mass of Christian is 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Hope with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ken Fortener will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. with Deacon Eddie Hutchins.

The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
