Sharp-nosed K-9 leads to drug arrest Monday night on BG Parkway

Tuesday, April 22, 2014, 10:15 a.m. — A Lexington man was arrested on drug-related and other charges Monday night after a Bardstown Police officer’s routine traffic stop on the Bluegrass Parkway.

Brandon W. Bishop, 26, was arrested on an outstanding probation violation warrant after he was stopped in a 2007 Ford Focus about 10:11 Monday night on the parkway by Major Ray Lewis. Lewis requested a K-9 office respond, and Officer Kyler Wright at his K-9 Zeus responded. Zeus indicated possible drugs in the vehicle, and a search turned up a brown bag containing 71 grams of methamphetamine, scales and $6,800 in cash.

Bishop’s vehicle was impounded and he was charged with trafficking a controlled substances, first-degree, methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; speeding; and a probation violation. He was lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
