Obituary: Elizabeth Ann Gribbins, 81, of New Hope

ELIZABETH ANN GRIBBONS

Elizabeth Ann Gribbins, 81, of New Hope, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at her home. She was born Dec. 22, 1932, at Holy Cross. She was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois in Bardstown. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Newton Clayton,; one son, Clayton Gribbins; and five brothers, Leonard Clayton, Paul Clayton, Charles Clayton Jr., George Clayton and F. H. “Chuck” Clayton.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Kenneth “Shorty” Gribbins; three daughters, Mary Ann Gribbins (Steve) of Bardstown, Patty Hurst (Jerry) of New Haven and Linda Burress (Kendall) of New Hope; three sons, Kenny Gribbins and Don Gribbins (Sandy), both of New Hope and Timmy Gribbins (Betty) of Bardstown; two sisters, Leona Lyvers and Catherine Rizer, both of Bardstown; one brother, Louis Clayton (Ollie) of Louisville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ken Fortener will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Jim Cecil.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Todd Gribbins, Allan Lyvers, Ben and Andy Hurst, Kurt Edelen and Dane Gribbins.

Honorary Pallbearers are granddaughters, Carol Ballard, Tina Dissellcamp, Tracy Stanley, Mallory Gribbins, Megan Gribbins.

Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
