Obituary: Melvin Garland Mobley Sr., 76, formerly of Bloomfield

Melvin Garland Mobley Sr., 76, formerly of Bloomfield, died Sunday April 27, 2014, in Autumn View Health Care in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a retired farmer and truck driver. He was a member of Moose Lodge #992, Buffalo, New funeral_flowerYork, and a member of Burch Branch Baptist Church in Shelby County.

He was the son of the late Owen Jerry and Lelia Muncy Mobley and was preceded in death by his two sisters, Inis Mobley and Betty Mae Williams; one brother, Earl Mobley; one granddaughter, Kimberly Banta; one great-grandchild, Waylon Mobley.

He is survived by one daughter, Peggy (Wendell) Cameron of LaGrange; two sons, Robert (Jennifer) Mobley of Fairfield and Melvin Mobley Jr. of Cambellsburg; one sister, Patricia Ann Burke of Pleasureville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his companion, Janet Fadale of Blasdell, N.Y.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with the Rev. Lana Burgin officiating. Burial is in Cox’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
