Obituary: William Robert ‘Bill’ Pile, 93, Bardstown

WILLIAM ROBERT ‘BILL’ PILE

William Robert “Bill” Pile, 93, of Bardstown, died Monday, April 28, 2014, at Life Care of Bardstown. He was born June 13, 1920, in Washington County. He was a retired farmer and was the longtime campground manager at the camping area at My Old Kentucky Home State Park. He was a lifelong member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Theresa Thomas Pile; his parents, Robert Lee and Virgie Lee Simpson Pile; four brothers; and one granddaughter.

He is survived by one daughter, Joyce (Wilbur) Bogard of Bardstown; one son, Bobby (Sue) Pile of Bardstown; two brothers, Edwin Pile of Cox’s Creek and Norris Pile of Springfield; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Woodlawn United Methodist Church with burial in the Poplar Flat Cemetery.

Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home and 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the church.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to Woodlawn United Methodist Church.
