Obituary: Harvey Lawrence, 82, Princeton
Harvey Lawrence, 82, of Princeton, died Friday, May 9, 2014, at his home. He retired from the Veterans Administrator Office of Construction where he worked as a team manager. He was a member of Central Presbyterian Church.
He was a licnesed Amateur Radio operator who held the callsign WA4NUD. He was instrumental in building membership in the Kentucky Amateur Radio Emergency Service in Western Kentucky, and held the appointment of Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator for Kentucky Region 1. He also helped secure and equipment a mobile command post for Caldwell County amateur radio emergency services group.
He was preceded in death by one brother, George Lawrence.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Kathryn “Kathy” Louise Smith Lawrence of Princeton; two sons, Ralph Lawrence of Hot Springs, Ariz. and Kenneth Lawrence, Hurdle Mills, N.C.; one stepdaughter, April Diaz of Dallas, Oregon; one stepson, Curtis Simms of Bothell, Wash.; one sister, Kathleen Vanderlindon of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and hundreds of his fellow Amateur Radio operators who appreciated his service, dedication and passion.
The funeral is 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2014, at Central Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kenneth Godshall officiating. Burial is in the Kentucky Veteran’s Cemetery West in Hopkinsville where military graveside honors will be held at 12:00 p.m. Central Daylight Savings Time.
Visitation was 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.
