Obituary: Virgil Wade ‘Bud’ Waldridge, 88, of Bloomfield
Virgil Wade “Bud” Waldridge, 88, of Bloomfield, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at his home. He was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Anderson County. He was a retired farmer and construction worker. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Armey and received a Purple Heart for his service at the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a member of D.A.V. Post #13 and a member of the Bloomfield Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Mason and Lilly Mae Beasley Waldridge; his wife, Betty Jean Waldridge; two sisters, Helen “Teenie” Hagan and Nettie Waldridge; and three brothers, Perry Waldridge, William C. Waldrdge and T.R. Waldridge.
He is survived by one daughter, Wendy (Victor) Williams of Bardstown; two sons, Terry (Pamela) Waldridge of Fairfield and Thomas Wade (Lea) Waldridge of Lexington Park, Md.; two sisters, Ellen Snider and Cerilla Goff, both of Bloomfield;
three grandchildren, Terry (Erin) Waldridge Jr., Mandy Waldridge and Felece Annette Waldridge; and three great-grandchildren, Hailey Waldridge, Ella Kate Waldridge, and Devin Waldridge; and his caregiver, Crystal Hamilton.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Bro. Bill Judd and Bro. Richard Carwile officiating. Burial is in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014, at the funeral home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Bloomfield Baptist Church Building Fund.
The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
