Police recover multiple meth labs from Kentucky Home Square dumpster

Thursday, May 15, 2014, 10:40 a.m — Nine one-step meth labs were recovered by police Thursday morning in a dumpster at Kentucky Home Square shopping center by sanitation workers on their regular garbage collection route.
Bardstown Police and the Bardstown Fire Department were called Thursday morning at about 8 a.m. to the rear of the Dollar Tree store at 207 Kentucky Home Square for a report of a smoking backpack in a dumpster. Once on scene, police observed debris related to the manufacture of methamphetamine inside the dumpster. Officers called in Detective McKenzie Mattingly of the Hardin County Narcotics Task Force for assistance.
Detectives collected a total of nine one-step meth labs from the dumpster, which was gathered along with the related debris for proper hazardous materials disposal. Police and firefighters were on the scene for about 35 minutes. No injuries were reported.
