Bardstown firefighters called to possible utility room fire

Sunday, May 18, 2014, 4:20 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department was called to the 100 block of Redmon Street in Cottage Grove subdivision for a possible fire in the utility of a residence. Firefighters were called out at 3:46 p.m. and arrived to find light smoke in the home. The source of the smoke was determined to be a belt on the washing machine. It was removed from the home and the home was ventilated. Firefighters cleared the scene at 4:19 p.m.
