Obituary: James Nolan ‘Jim’ ‘Piggy’ Bryan, 82, Bardstown
James Nolan “Jim” “Piggy” Bryan, 82, of Bardstown, died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Bluegrass Assisted Living of Bardstown. He was born April 8, 1932, in New Haven. He graduated from St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic school. He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He retired from General Electric after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph parish.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Walker Bryan; his parents, John Monroe and Barbara Theresa Culver Bryan; one sister, Thelma Rose Cecil; three brothers, Steven Lee “Leeboy” Bryan, Joseph Earl “Nornie” Bryan and Bernard M. “ Bucky” Bryan; four half-sisters; and two half-brothers.
He is survived by four daughters, Mary Jean (Robert) McCubbins of Bardstown, Nancy Hahn, Vickie (Bill) Speer, and Patricia (George) Morse, all of Louisville; one son, Tony Hahn of Bardstown; one sister, Dorothy Rita “Dottie” Morris of New Haven; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto Cathedral with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Bill Hammer will celebrate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014, and 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday, May 22, 2014, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with prayers at 6 p.m. Thursday.
