Woman dies, husband injured in motorcycle crash on Interstate 65

Tuesday, May 27, 2014, 2 p.m. — One motorcyclist died and her husband suffered severe injuries Sunday afternoon when their motorcycles collided with an SUV on Interstate 65 near the 85 mile marker.
Miranda Flowers, 42, and her husband, Gerald Flowers Jr., 43, were traveling south on I-65 when they ran up on slower moving traffic. Both tried to swere their Harley-Davidson motorcycles to the right to avoid hitting a Ford Expedition ahead of them driven by Angela J. Mitchell, 33, of Louisville.
According to a press release from the Kentucky State Police, Miranda Flowers’ motorcycle struck the SUV and overturned. Gerald Flowers Jr.’s motorcycle struck his wife’s motorcycle and he was ejected from the bike. Miranda Flowers was pronounced dead on the scene by the Hardin County coroner. Gerald Flowers Jr. was airlifted from the scene to University Hospital where he was last listed in critical condition. The driver of the SUV was uninjured.
