Obituary: Mary Alice Smith, 90, Bardstown

MARY ALICE SMITH

Mary Alice Smith, 90, of Bardstown, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. She was the former Mary Alice O’Bryan and was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Nelson County. She was a homemaker and member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Domino” Smith; her parents, George and Fannie Watson O’Bryan; two daughters, Judy Godbey and Mary Buntain; one sister, Anna Auberry; and six brothers, Desmond O’Bryan, Morgan O’Bryan, Georgie O’Bryan, Charlie Wood O’Bryan, William Ernest O’Bryan and Allen O’Bryan.

Survivors include three daughters, Barbara (Clyde) Brown and Alice (Leroy) Mattingly, both of Bardstown, and Theresa (Mike) Haupt of Wisconsin; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial in the St. Joseph cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Hopper, Rev. Bill Hammer and Rev. Ben Brown will con-celebrate.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home in Bardstown A prayer service is 6 p.m. Thursday.

The family requests memorial contributions go to Masses or to Nazareth Village One, Nazareth, KY 40048
