Home damaged, shed destroyed early Tuesday in fire of suspicious origin

fireshieldTuesday, June 3, 2014, 1:30 a.m. (UPDATED 8 A.M.) — A mobile home in Rogan’s Mobile Home Park was damaged early Tuesday morning by a fire of suspicious origin. At 12:06 a.m., Nelson County Dispatch sent the Bardstown Fire Department and Bardstown Police to a mobile home at 1313 North Rogan Drive for a reported fire. Dispatchers were told a shed outside the home was on fire and that something was thrown through a window that set one room of the home ablaze.

When firefighters arrived, the shed was nearly fully consumed by fire and one room in the home was on fire. The burning shed and the fire inside the home were both brought under control by firefighters’ quick response.

The state fire marshal’s office was contacted regarding an investigation of the cause of the fire. The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the home’s residents with emergency housing.

Firefighters and a representative of the state fire marshal’s office stayed on scene until 4:35 a.m. The fire scene was secured and additional police patrol of the area was requested.
