Obituary: Patricia Ann ‘Pat’ Wheatley, 76, Louisville
Patricia Ann “Pat” Wheatley , 76, of Louisville, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Baptist Health in Louisville. She was born on March 16, 1938, in St. Francis. She worked at the Kentucky School for the Blind for more than 20 years and was a longtime member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Menzie Wheatley; her parents, Pauline Elizabeth Robey Smith Hall and James Bernard Smith; her stepfather, William S. Hall; one sister, Jane Smith; and two brothers, Jimmy Smith and Ernie Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Judy Scholl (Dan) and Carolyn Wheatley, both of Louisville; seven sons, Larry Wheatley (Lois), Ricky Wheatley (Mary), Ronnie Wheatley (Angie) and Tommy Wheatley all of Raywick, Jerry Wheatley (Lee) and Billy Wheatley (Valerie), both of Louisville and Jeff Wheatley (Cherie) of Lexington; one sister, Wanda Portman (Tommy) of Leitchfield; one brother, Freddie Hall of Leitchfield; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and her special dog, Sparky.
The funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 108 Main Street, Raywick. The Rev. James W. Graf will officiate. Burial is in the church cemetery. A Memorial Mass is noon Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Louisville.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a 7 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Joseph R. Dant.
