Obituary: Robert Bernard ‘Bernie’ Elder, 47, Louisville

Robert Bernard “Bernie” Elder, 47, of Louisville, died Monday, June 9, 2014, at his home. He was a native of Louisville and a retired truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Everett Elder Sr.

He is survived by his wife, Laverne Elder; one daughter, Whitney (Robert) Johnson of Versailles; his mother, Caroline Elder of Louisville, ; two sisters, Luanne Brockmeyer of Florida and Rebecca (Kristina) Elder of Louisville; three brothers, Steven (Jamie) Elder of Missouri, David (Nik) Elder of Indiana, and William (Carrie) Elder of Louisville; two grandmothers, Mary Geoghegan of Florida and Margie Edler of Louisville; and two grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield with minister Stevie Francis officiating with burial in the Maple Grove cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the funeral home.

The Houghlin Funeral Home in Bloomfield is in charge of arrangements.
