Obituary: William ‘Phil’ Rogers, 76, Louisville
William ‘Phil’ Rogers, 76, of Louisville, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014, in the care of Hosparus.
He was born March 22, 1938, and was raised in New Haven. He passed after a valiant struggle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He married his high school sweetheart, Lenora Boone Rogers, 55 years ago. He had a 42-year career with General Electric where he was a tool and die maker and payroll administrator. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joe and Edith Ray Rogers; one sister, Sarah Kimmel; one brother, Jack Rogers and his wife, Dorothy Culver Rogers; one brother-in-law, Marvin Hall; and several nephews and nieces.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lenora; two daughters, Lauren Rogers Kiesler (T.J.) and Kara Rogers Miller; four sisters, Mary Helen “Sis” Hall, Judy Radonich (Charles), Margaret “Mocki” Rogers (Harlan Siliman), and Joanna Ennis (Tommy); four brothers, Barry Rogers (Pam), Steve Rogers (Kim), Ben Rogers (Pasty), and Bernie Rogers; four granddaughters, Savanah Miller, Abigail Miller, Emily Miller and Ashlyn Kiesler; and the Boone families.
The funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at St. Vincent DePaul Church in New Hope with burial in the church cemetery.
Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Friday, June 20, 2014, and 8-10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hosparus of Louisville (c/o H1CC), PO Box 35425, Louisville, KY 40232-9892, and the St. Vincent DePaul Church Roof Fund, P.O. Box 58, New Hope, KY 40052.
