Obituary: Floyd Leo ‘JR’ Vittitow, 78, New Haven

Floyd Leo “JR” Vittitow, 78, of New Haven, died Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Springfield Nursing & Rehab in funeral_flowerSpringfield. He was born Dec. 26, 1935, in Culvertown, the son of the late Floyd Clarence and Anna Viola Willett Vittitow. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven. He was veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ivone (Ratliff) Vittitow; one sister, Oneida Davilin; and seven brothers, Melvin Vittitow, Ernest Vittitow, Pat Vittitow, Raymond Vittitow, Albert Vittitow, Bobby Vittitow and Harold Vittitow.

He is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Mike) Nalley of Bardstown and Becky (Ditter) Cundiff of Bloomfield;
three sons, Gary Hagan of Chaplin, Ronnie Vittitow and Timmy Vittitow, both of Bardstown; four sisters, Mary Juanita Roby, Mary Louise (Ed) Nalley and Francis “Frankie” Willett Vittitow, all of Bardstown, and Mary JoAnn (Mike) Dalasandro of Burlington, N.J.; three brothers, John Alvin “Jack” (Anna Marie) Vittitow of New Haven, Joseph Louis Vittitow of Louisville and Joseph William “Billy” (Dreama) Vittitow of Prospect; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Culvertown with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Burial is in the St. Thomas Cemetery in Bardstown.

Visitation is 3-6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, and 8:30-10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2014, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St., New Haven.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
