Residents displaced after electrical fire at Honeysuckle apartments

Saturday, June 21, 2014, 11:50 p.m. — The Bardstown Fire Department responded Saturday afternoon to an electrical fire in an apartment in the 200 block of Honeysuckle Lane. Firefighters were called out at 5:48 p.m. after smoke was reported in the apartment. The first firefighters on scene found a fire at the kitchen stove that had spread to the ceiling. The fire was extinguished in the kitchen, and firefighters had to locate the extent the fire spread to the upper floors and into an adjacent apartment. The Northeast Nelson Fire Department was called in to provide additional manpower, and the American Red Cross provided housing assistance to the displaced apartment residents. Firefighters were on the scene for about two hours.
