Obituary: Ruth Caroline Miles, 77, Loretto
Ruth Caroline Miles, 77, of Loretto, died Monday, June 23, 2014, at Baptist Health in Lexington. She was born May 28, 1937, in Loretto. She was a former clerk at the Loretto Post Office and was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Leonard and Edith Mary Raley Hayden; two sisters, Mary Edith Yates and Betty Sue Hicks; two brothers, Leslie Hayden and John L. Hayden; and one son-in-law, Eddie Harris.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Robert G. “Bobby” Miles; four daughters, Sally M. Peterson (Charlie) of Bartlett, Tenn., Susie Klim (Paul) and Amelia Allen, both of Lexington and Ellen Harris of Versailles; one son, Jerry Miles (Elaine) of Shepherdsville; four sisters, Dorothy Medley and Joann Hamilton, both of Loretto, Fanny Nally of Fredericktown and Peggy Browning (Jim) of St. Mary’s; two brothers, Fred Hayden (Linda) of Louisville and Bobby Hayden (Joyce) of Loretto; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6475 Highway 52, St. Francis with burial in the church cemetery. Her nephew, the Most Right Rev. Bill Medleye and the Rev. Bill Bowling will concelebrate.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 25. 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a 7 p.m. prayer service with Deacon Dennis May.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Matthew Miles, Nathan Miles, Nicholas Miles, Kevin Peterson, Stephen Klim, Jonathan Allen, Jeffrey Allen, Thomas Harris and Jodie Harris.
Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
