Obituary: Donald Mitchell ‘Don’ Tharp, 85, St. Francis
Donald Mitchell “Don” Tharp, 85, of St. Francis, died Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at his home.
He was born Dec. 1, 1928, in Brumfield. He was a former employee of Barton Brands Distillery in Bardstown. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a Methodist by faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Callon and Susie Pipes Tharp and 10 siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joan Mudd Tharp; five daughters, Nancy Blanford (Jimmy), Donna Nalley (Joe) and Lisa Culver (Marvin), all of Loretto, Carol Reynolds (Larry) of Lebanon and Michelle Gribbins (Roger) of Bardstown, 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
The funeral is 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with Pastor Mark Weidemann officiating. Burial is in the St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in St. Francis with military rites conducted by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation is 3-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are his grandsons, Eric Nalley, Patrick Blanford, Chad Abell, Brandon Blanford, Joshua Culver, Jordan Culver and Jude Gribbins.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
