B’town, NE Nelson firefighters respond to Bluegrass Ct. house fire

Wednesday, July 2, 2014, 12:45 a.m. — A Bluegrass Court home was damaged Tuesday morning by a fire that began fireshieldoutside the home on a deck.

The Bardstown Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 10:35 Tuesday morning. The fire quickly spread up the exterior wall of the fire to the attic. The Northeast Nelson Fire Department provided additional manpower to assist the Bardstown firefighters. Firefighters were on the scene for nearly 2-1/2 hours ventilating the home and assisting the homeowner salvage items in the home. The American Red Cross assisted the residents with immediate housing needs.

While firefighters were fighting the fire on Bluegrass Court, they were called at 11:12 a.m. Tuesday to respond to an active fire alarm at FET Engineering, 903 Nutter Drive. That fire was caused by a fire in an oven that extinguished itself. Firefighters assisted with resetting the alarm and stayed on scene for about 50 minutes.
