Mary Huberta “Birdie” Donahue Cecil, 74, of New Haven, passed away July 1, 2014, at her home.
MARY HUBERTA ‘BIRDIE’ DONAHUE CECIL
She was born Sept. 8, 1939, in New Hope. She was a retired Registered Nurse with Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown and Spring View Hospital in Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Albertus “Bert” Cecil; her parents, Nathan Hubert and Mary Clara Nalley Donahue; and five brothers, Charles Nathan Donahue, James Sidney Donahue, Patrick Earl Donahue, Thomas Gerald Donahue and Francis William Donahue.
Survivors include her husband, Darell Cecil; three sons, Joe Cecil of New Hope, David Cecil (Nancy) of Lexington and Eric Cecil of Melody Lake; one sister, Carolyn Bowman of Corydon, Ind.; one brother, Joseph Daniel “Danny” Donahue of Melody Lake; four stepdaughters, Betty Cecil of Bardstown, Jean Cecil of Louisville, Donna Shofner (Scott), and Sharon Cecil, all of New Haven; seven stepsons, Vincent Cecil (Diania), Roger Cecil (Tish), and Johnny Cecil (Nancy), all of Bardstown, Ricky Cecil, Tony Cecil and Brian Cecil, all of New Haven and Gary Cecil (Mica) of Seymour, Ind.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; 28 stepgrandchildren; and a number of stepgreat-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Saint Thomas Catholic Church, 870 Saint Thomas Lane, Bardstown, with the Rev. Ken Fortener as the celebrant. Burial is in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. by Deacon Sam Filiatreau.
The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
