Thursday, July 3, 2014, 11 a.m. — A local woman was arrested Wednesday night following an investigation by police into an apparent break-in and attempted metal theft earlier in the day at a location in the 200 block of Sunset Drive.
Susan Joyce Mitchell, 41, was arrested Wednesday night by Bardstown Police on charges of wanton endangerment and third-degree burglary in connection to the incident.
At 1:46 p.m. Wednesday, Bardstown Police were dispatched to the area of Sunset Drive to investigate a report of suspicious activity. A man and women fled the area in a green 2002 Ford Taurus before police arrived. Police had a description of the car, but were unable to locate the couple after their investigation.
Wednesday night about 11:40, a city police officer spotted the woman driving the vehicle alone in Bardstown and followed it until the driver stopped at the East Stephen Foster Five Star Food Mart. She was arrested without incident and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
The male subject who was allegedly with her at the Sunset Drive incident is still being sought by police.
