Obituary: Frances Eloise ‘Weezie’ Deats, 92, Bardstown

Frances Eloise “Weezie” Deats, 92, of Bardstown, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Winsor Gardens. She was born fun_angelDec. 23, 1921, in Louisville. She retired from Peoples Bank and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Mike Halgash; her second husband, Edgar “Reggie” Deats; and her parents, William Spencer and Metta Mattingly.

She is survived by one daughter, Rhonda Orel (Dennis) of Louisville; two sons, Kenny Halgash (Linda) of Bardstown, and Jerry Halgash (Debbie) of Valrico, Fla.; three stepsons, Frank Deats of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Steve Deats of Prospect, and Michael Halgash of Hagerstown, Md.; three grandchildren, Amanda Dozier (Harry), Alisha Halgash and Chris Halgash; several great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at New Salem Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Jonathan Gann will officiate.

Visitation is 2–8 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, and 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may go to New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
