Lebanon man arrested Sunday for alleged robbery of Maple Hill motel

Monday, July 7, 2014, 12:20 p.m. — A Lebanon man was arrested early Sunday morning after he alleged robbed the Old Kentucky Home Motel Saturday night about 9 p.m.

robberyTimothy Dale Lanham, was charged with second-degree robbery. He had been released from the Nelson County Jail early the same day as the robbery after being arrested July 4 on a charge of public intoxication on a controlled substance.

Bardstown Police responded to the reported robbery at the motel, 414 W. Stephen Foster Ave.,  Saturday night at 8:54 p.m. According to police, the man attempted to distract the clerk by saying there was a fire outside. The man then jumped over the counter and grabbed cash from the register.

The suspect fled the motel and was spotted by several witnesses as he cross West Stephen Foster Avenue made his way behind the Stephen Foster Restaurant. He apparently shed the blue shirt he wore at the time of the robbery while on foot. On South Kennett Avenue, the suspect is believed to have paid a woman driving a blue minivan $10 for a ride to Bart’s Mart in Bloomfield.

Bardstown Police Officer Kyler Wright traveled to Bart’s Mart and verified the suspect had been dropped off there. Officers determined the suspect, identified as Timothy Dale Lanham, was staying at a residence on Bloomfield Road. Lanham initially denied involvement in the incident, but later admitted to the robbery and told police he had already spent the stolen cash on drugs. Police found $11.96 in cash on him.

He was arrested and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
