Obituary: Mary Ann Brown, 81, of Bardstown

Mary Ann Brown, 81, of Bardstown, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at her home. She was the former Mary Ann Newton and was born March 5, 1933, in Nelson County. She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Thomas Catholic funeral_doveChurch, where served on the Bereavement committee, Rosary Club and Youth Leadership.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Willard and Ann Carolyn Smith Newton; one daughter, Rita Jane Lawhorn; six brothers; one sister; one grandson, Justin Dale Jewell; one great grandson, Rylan Anthony Lyvers.

She is survived by her husband, Wallace Brown; four daughters, Carolyn (Bill) Muir of Elizabethtown, Judy (Stanley) Brady, Lisa (Paul) Dylag and Kim Bowling (Jimmy Hardin), all of Bardstown; seven sons, Jack (Teresa) Brown of Chaplin, Chris (Cindy) Brown of New Haven, Mike (Brenda) Brown, Tony (Shelia) Brown, Greg (Kim) Brown, Kevin Brown and Mark Brown, all of Bardstown; 34 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Ben Brown will be the celebrant.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2014, and 8:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service Tuesday night at the funeral home.

The family requests expressions of sympathy go for Masses at St. Thomas Catholic Church in her memory.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
