 Joseph Edward “Eddie” Hutchins, 71, of New Hope, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville. He was born

JOSEPH EDWARD ‘EDDIE’ HUTCHINS

April 14, 1943, in New Hope. He was a retired employee of Owens-Illinois Company in Bardstown and was presently serving as Deacon at Saint Catherine of Alexandria Parish in New Haven. He previously served at St. Ann’s Church in Howardstown, St. Francis Xavier Church in Raywick and St. Vincent de Paul Church in New Hope. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Alice Mae Cheshire Hutchins; one sister, Barbara Ann Dant; and one brother, Johnnie Hutchins.Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shirley Riggs Hutchins; three daughters, Angie Hogge (Mike) of Lexington, Paula Roby (Timmy) and Gina Miles (Pat) all of Cox’s Creek; one son, Johnny Hutchins (Carrie) of New Hope; six brothers, Phil Hutchins (Rosie) and Mike Hutchins (Kathleen), both of Lebanon, Joe Hutchins (Connie) and Pat Hutchins (Paula), both of Louisville, Keith Hutchins (Joann) of Georgetown and Greg Hutchins (Alma) of Lexington; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial is 2 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 104 Church Street, New Hope. Burial is in the church cemetery. The Most Rev. Joseph E. Kurtz and Rev. Ken Fortener will concelebrate.Visitation is 3-8 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 2014, and 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto, with a prayer service at 6 p.m. by Rev. Deacon Jim Cecil.The pallbearers are Phil Hutchins, Mike Hutchins, Joe Hutchins, Pat Hutchins, Keith Hutchins, Greg Hutchins and Wally Dant.The Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of arrangements.
