BRANDON JOHNSON

Tuesday, July 22, 2014 — Former St. Catharine College basketball standout and assistant coach Brandon Johnson has been named the new head basketball coach at Thomas Nelson High School.

TNHS Principal Wes Bradley made the announcement earlier this week. Johnson is a native of Radcliff and brings recent college level experience to the position as both a player and an assistant coach for SCC.

“Brandon is a top notch person, player, and community member that we are excited to lead our young men in the coming years. We know the importance of getting good people in leadership roles and Brandon fits that mold well,” Bradley said.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity at Thomas Nelson. I am looking forward to being a positive influence for not only our players, but Thomas Nelson High School and our community;” Johnson said.

Johnson played for SCC as recently as 2011-2012 and finished his career as the all-time leader in scoring, rebounding, and steals standing as the only player to have his jersey retired at St. Catherine college.

Johnson has for the past two years worked as an Assistant to Coach J.T. Burton while working on a masters degree in Health Promotional Leadership at SCC.

The initial “meet and greet” for Johnson is scheduled for 5 PM Sunday, July 27th in the TNHS Media Center. All players, parents, and community members are welcome to attend.
