Obituary: Paul Thomas Gritton, 72, Bardstown

PAUL THOMAS GRITTON

Paul Thomas Gritton, 72, of Bardstown, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at Flaget Memorial Hospital. He was born April 11, 1942, in Fairfield. He retired from Heaven Hill Distillery after 45 years of service. He loved working on antique and classic cars, and he was one of the organizers of the Whiskey City Cruisers and was a member for more than 20 years. He was very active with his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tomie and Margie Gritton.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara Cecil “Teeny” Gritton of Bardstown; three daughters, Brenda (Gregg) Figg of Cox’s Creek, Sherry (Tom “Skeeter”) Hagan, and Dana (Jeff) Warner, both of Bardstown; two sisters, Barbara Nutt of Bardstown, and Pat Stamper of Louisville; three brothers, Roger Gritton, Ernie Gritton, and Billy Joe Gritton, all of Cox’s Creek; seven grandchildren, David Paul Figg, Casey Figg Ayers, Aaron Figg, Kelly Hagan, Lacy Hagan, Jace Warner, and Bralen Warner; two great-grandchildren, Madden Ayers, and Zara Figg; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Barlow Funeral Home with burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery. The Rev. David Cockson will officiate.

Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014, and 8-11 am. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may go to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Barlow Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
