Obituary: Elisabeth Hannig, 94, Bardstown

ELISABETH HANNIG

Elisabeth Hannig, 94, of Bardstown, died peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014. She immigrated from Germany to America with her husband Walter in 1951. They lived in Cleveland until moving to Bardstown in 1984. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Bardstown, where she sang in the choir for many years and was active in the women’s circle. She belonged to the community music club, the Cox’s Creek Homemakers, the quilting group, and the Flaget Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustav and Mathilde Konrath; and one brother, Fritz Konrath.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Hannig; one daughter, Rita (Tim) Carter; one son, Kurt (Kim) Hannig; three granddaughters, Kari Hanning, Anne Hanning and Lynn Hannig; one niece, Ute Berg; and many dear friends.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, 2014, at the Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home with burial in the Bardstown Cemetery. The Rev. John Sanderson will officiate.

Visitation is 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the First Presbytereian Church, 209 N. Second St., Bardstown, Ky. 40004.

The Houghlin-Greenwell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
