Officer’s in-car computer leads to stolen vehicle’s recovery
Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, 12:14 a.m. — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office recovered a stolen Toyota Corolla late Wednesday night on Greer Lane after a deputy sheriff following the vehicle used his in-car computer to determine the vehicle had been reported stolen.
Nelson County Dispatch confirmed the “hit” on the license plate was identified as one on a stolen vehicle at about 11:20 p.m. as the deputy and the Toyota with two occupants continued east on US 150 out of Bardstown toward Botland. The deputy continued to follow the vehicle and was joined by a Bardstown Police officer. The officers followed the stolen car until it turned into a driveway in the 500 block of Greer Lane. Police confirmed the car was stolen and had been reported to the Kentucky State Police post in Columbia. The vehicle was impounded pending recovery by its owner. The vehicle’s occupants were arrested and lodged in the Nelson County Jail.
