Friday, Aug. 15, 2014, 1 p.m. — Motorists in Nelson County should be aware that construction to widen KY 245 (between US 150 and US 62) in Bardstown will require closure of the road between the R. J. Corman railroad crossing and the US 62 intersection beginning Sunday evening, Aug. 17. The closure will last through Thursday, August 21.
The closure is necessary so crews can perform railroad crossing repair, install a culvert pipe and construct new US 62 approaches.
Mobile message boards and detour signage is in place to alert motorists of the upcoming closure and detours.
NORTHBOUND KY 245. Northbound traffic will enter Bardstown on Springfield Road and then turn right onto Bloomfield Road, US 62, at the traffic light by the Old Kentucky Home Country Club, then proceed north on Bloomfield Road to the KY 245 intersection and turning left to continue north.
SOUTHBOUND KY 245. Southbound KY 245 traffic seeking access to businesses between the railroad crossing and US 150 can access them via KY 245 from its intersection with Springfield Road. All the businesses on KY 245 will be open for businesses during the road closure.
In anticipation of increased volume along the detour route, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet personnel will be watching the traffic flow Monday, Aug. 18 to make needed signal timing adjustments.
