Obituary: Marion Bernadine ‘Knocker’ Braden, 79, formerly of New Haven

Marion Bernadine “Knocker” Braden, 79, of Louisville, formerly of New Haven, died Thursday, Aug. 14, funeral_flower2014, at Norton Health Care in Louisville. He was born Sept. 8, 1935, in New Haven. He was the son of the late Albert Hugh and Mary Pearl Taylor Braden. He was self-employed for many years as a salesman for Coca-Cola and The Tavern. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Albert Hugh Braden Jr.; and two sisters, Myrtle Braden and Shirley Brian.

Survivors include two sons, Marion Andrew “Andy” Braden of Jasper, Ala., and Michael Edward “Mike” Braden of Louisville; two sisters, Patricia “Pat” Maupin and Wilma (Leo) Wimsett, both of New Haven; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in New Haven with the Rev. Troy Overton officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, and 8:30-11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, at the William R. Rust Funeral Home in New Haven. A prayer service is 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The William R. Rust Funeral Home, 167 N. Main St. in New Haven is in charge of arrangements.
