Obituary: Kenneth Aaron “Kenny” Barnes, 75, New Haven
Kenneth Aaron “Kenny” Barnes, 75, of New Haven, died at his home early Sunday morning Aug. 17, 2014. He was born and raised in Lyons Station by his parents, the late William Robert and Nancy Ann Fisher Barnes. He retired from General Electric after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Rolling Fork Christian Church in Lyons Station.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Phyllis Dewitt; and four brothers, Bill Barnes and Bobby Barnes, and infant brothers Donald Barnes and Larry Barnes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rose Mary Newton Barnes; one daughter, Becca Hardin (Dennis); one son, Michael “Tank “Mattingly (Jackie Ann); one sister, Mary Ann Herron of Louisville; three brothers, Daniel Barnes (Carolyn) of Scottsburg, Ind., Wayne Barnes (Patty) and Gary Barnes (Jeanie), both of Lyons Station; four grandchildren, Michelle Mattingly, Macy Mattingly, Kayla Boddy (Matt), and Kirsti Hurst (Anthony); two stepgrandchildren, Calvin Hardin and Brandon Hardin; two great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Hurst and Camden Boddy; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at the Rolling Fork Christian Church with Bro. Tim Underhill officiating. Burial is in the St. Catherine of Alexandria Cemetery.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. at the Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home in New Haven.
